A hillside district behind the Castle, arranged around the oldest monastery in Bohemia. Břevnov Monastery was founded in 993, and its brewery — revived in 2011 — claims the longest brewing tradition in the country.
What is here
The monastery church and gardens are open and quietly magnificent. Ladronka is a kilometre-long meadow where the city skates and picnics. At the western edge, Bílá hora — the White Mountain — is the 1620 battlefield where Bohemia lost its independence for three hundred years; there is a small pilgrimage church and a very large silence.
