The green, well-ordered quarter north-west of the Castle, laid out between the wars around the great roundabout of Vítězné náměstí. Embassies, university faculties and interwar villas set the tone.
What is here
Stromovka, the city's largest park, fills the flat land towards the river. At the western edge the Divoká Šárka gorge is genuinely wild — cliffs, a stream and a summer swimming pool. The Hotel International, a 1950s Socialist-Realist wedding-cake tower, is worth seeing precisely because Prague has only one.
